Circles 2.jpg
Pay What You Like

‘Circles’ is the second single off of Sleepwalker. This song is a response to the Great Disappearing Act of Modern Dating. I have been thrown by the lack of a gracious exit on more than one occasion, and regrettably, conversations with friends reveal this phenomenom to be increasingly ubiquitous. During a particularly painful experience, I was sitting on my friends’ living room floor, pleading with them to tell me what to do, what to say, how to find a way back into a relationship that was silent on the other end. Audra turned to me with such kindness and such assuredness and said, “In whatever confusion or sadness or immense disappointment you are experiencing right now, I want you to remember that you know how to love.” It was as simple as that. Not easy, but simple. The disappointment stayed with me for a while, but writing this song and singing this chorus - each time an echo of that affirmation - reminds me that eventually it does all come back around. Let us forgive with abandon those who cannot love us; and let us continue to do our work moving inward, so that we can move outward again with courage and heart. #circles

Produced by Justin Glasco. Played by myself, Brandon Walters, Kiel Feher, and Erik Kertes. Ryan Lipman mixed this tune and Hans DeKline mastered it.
